What is Petrofix.com?

Petrofix.com provides a safe way to limit gas costs that is affordable and convenient commercial fuel users. We are excited to be the first company to offer gas price caps online, something that was traditionally only available to large corporations.

How does Petrofix protect me from rising gas prices?

Our plans compensate you for increases in gas prices. Once you've purchased a plan simply continue to purchase your gas at the pump as usual. If gas prices go down, you will benefit from cheap gas prices. If average gas prices in your area go up we will pay you the difference.

We have online tools that help you estimate how much gas you use. Our gas price plans cover all geographic areas and plan lengths range from 3 months to 24 months. Please visit Example Plan to see how gas price caps work.

How do I get compensated?

Each month if the average gas price of your chosen area goes above the level where you entered the plan, we will post a credit to you for the difference. All payouts are sent to your credit card or mailed by check at the end of each month.

With Petrofix plans you specify the exact amount gallons you want to protect. This way we can pay you right away without any claims process or spending time measuring your actual consumption.

Can anyone purchase a Petrofix plan?

Petrofix plans have been designed for a commercial users of gasoline that have exposure to rising gasoline prices.

Petrofix plans are used to help customers reduce the risk of rising gas prices. Petrofix plans cannot be used to increase exposure to gas prices, so if you do not drive or use gasoline then Petrofix plans are not suitable for you.

Why would I buy coverage against rising gas prices?

Petrofix plans help consumers cut their travel costs and protect their budget when gas prices rise. The ability to get protection against rising gas prices without “locking-in” a gas price has not been available to consumers in the past.

With Petrofix plans, consumers can now enjoy the savings of cheap gas without worrying about rising gas prices.

What gas prices does Petrofix use?

The gas prices that we use are average pump prices from your area. These gas prices are published weekly by the Department of Energy’s Information Administration (EIA).

The EIA also publishes historical gas prices.

Why do we use government published gas prices?

We use the average gas prices for your area so that you have the freedom to purchase gasoline at any gasoline station. We also use government published prices because they are transparent, verifiable and less prone to single-station reporting inaccuracies.

What types of gas may I purchase with my plan?

You can purchase regular, midgrade, or premium gas with Petrofix plans. The gas prices that the EIA publishes includes all three grades of gasoline.

Feel free to fill up with any grade of gasoline and still enjoy the benefits of gas price protection.

Does it matter which gas station I fill up at?

With Petrofix plans, you can fill up at any gas station in your plan area. However, to get the most savings from Petrofix plans it is always beneficial to fill up with cheaper gas when it is available.

Q13: What advantage does Petrofix have over gas cards?
Q14: What is the difference between Petrofix coverage and insurance?
Q15: Are there plans offered for diesel fuel?

What advantage does Petrofix have over gas cards and similar pre-pay fuel products?

Petrofix plans are not like gas cards or pre-pay programs where you would effectively pay for all your gas up front. One or two years' worth of gas is thousands of dollars and a lot to spend up front. You would also have to hope prices don't fall as then that gasoline you bought could have been bought for less!

Instead Petrofix plans cost a very small percentage of the full cost of the gas you use. It allows you to pay for gas as you normally would, i.e. whenever you need to fill your tank. If gas prices decline at the pump you get to enjoy the cheap gas prices as you normally would. However if gas prices increase from where you started the plan we will pay you the difference to your credit card or by check. You get the best of both worlds.

Petrofix plans also avoid the hassle of carrying around a gas-card or ordering them in the mail. We don't have hidden fees or membership fees. Everything is upfront and inclusive in our prices for the plan you are interested in.

What is the difference between Petrofix coverage and insurance?

Petrofix plans are not insurance. Petrofix enables customers to customize, price and buy gas price coverage online in just minutes, and get paid when gas prices rise. There is no unnecessary paperwork, no claims process and no waiting for payment.

Are there plans for diesel fuel?

Currently we do not offer Petrofix plans for diesel, but we understand the importance of this fuel. We are working towards offering this. We encourage you to register, or drop us an email and we will keep you posted on further developments.
