What gas prices does Petrofix use?
The gas prices that we use are average pump prices from your area. These gas prices are published weekly by the Department of Energy’s Information Administration (EIA).
The EIA also publishes historical gas prices.
Why do we use government published gas prices?
We use the average gas prices for your area so that you have the freedom to purchase gasoline at any gasoline station. We also use government published prices because they are transparent, verifiable and less prone to single-station reporting inaccuracies.
What types of gas may I purchase with my plan?
You can purchase regular, midgrade, or premium gas with Petrofix plans. The gas prices that the EIA publishes includes all three grades of gasoline.
Feel free to fill up with any grade of gasoline and still enjoy the benefits of gas price protection.
Does it matter which gas station I fill up at?
With Petrofix plans, you can fill up at any gas station in your plan area. However, to get the most savings from Petrofix plans it is always beneficial to fill up with cheaper gas when it is available.
Why isn’t my city or state listed?
Petrofix plans use five regions to determine where you drive the most. These regions cover all states and major metropolitan areas in the US. This allows our customers to travel freely without worrying about leaving their area of coverage.
How do you know how much gas I use?
With Petrofix plans you tell us how much gas you use when you sign up. We have online tools that help you estimate how much gas you use.
Our plan payouts are based on the amount of gas you estimate you are going to use. So there is no claims process, no paper work, and no wait.
How much do Petrofix plans cost?
Petrofix plans generally range from 25 cents to 40 cents per gallon. The plan prices depend on your geographic area, how many gallons of gasoline you use a month, and how long you want the gas price coverage to last.
